What is gas spring?

They work based on the principles of pneumatics and use compressed gas, typically nitrogen, to provide a controlled force to assist in lifting or lowering an object.
How does gas spring work?
Gas springs consist of a cylinder filled with high-pressure nitrogen gas and a piston rod. The piston rod is connected to the object that needs to be lifted or supported. When the gas spring is in its resting state, the gas is compressed on one side of the piston, and the rod is extended.When you apply force to the object connected to the gas spring, such as when you press down on an office chair seat or lower the tailgate of a car, the gas spring supports the weight of the object. It counteracts the force you apply, making it easier to lift or lower the object.Some gas springs have a locking feature that allows them to hold an object in a specific position until you release the lock. This is often seen in chairs or car hoods. By releasing the lock or applying force in the opposite direction, the gas spring allows the object to move again.
